Privacy policy

Plate & Spool is published by The First Buyer. For any question about this policy or about data held about you, contact contact@plateandspool.com.

Nothing you do not give us, plus anonymous analytics. In detail:

• Contact form submissions. If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, topic and message you type. That is sent to us as an email and is used only to reply to you. It is not added to a mailing list, and there is no mailing list.
• Anti-spam signals on that form. The form records when it loaded, and the server records your IP address briefly in memory to rate-limit submissions. These exist to stop automated spam. The IP record is held only in server memory, is limited to a one-hour window, and is discarded whenever the server restarts.
• Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which links are clicked, in aggregate. This includes a `affiliate_click` event when you click a product link, which tells us a click happened and from which page — not who you are.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard access logs, including IP addresses, as part of operating the service.

• No accounts, logins or passwords — this site has none.
• No payments. Nothing is ever sold on this site, so no payment data exists.
• No newsletter signups, and no mailing list of any kind.
• No comments section, so no stored user content.
• We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with anyone.

This site sets no cookies of its own. Cookies that may be set come from the third parties below:

• Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish sessions and devices for aggregate reporting.
• Amazon may set cookies when you follow an affiliate link, which is how the Associates Program attributes a purchase. That happens on Amazon's side, after you leave this site.

You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them does not affect your ability to read anything here.

• Vercel — hosting and content delivery. Processes requests and keeps access logs.
• Google Analytics 4 — aggregate usage analytics.
• Microsoft (Graph / Outlook) — delivers contact form submissions to us as email.
• Amazon Associates — affiliate link attribution, once you click through to Amazon. Amazon's own privacy policy applies from that point.

Product links on this site are Amazon affiliate links. Clicking one takes you to Amazon, where Amazon's privacy practices apply. We receive aggregate reporting about clicks and purchases from the Associates Program; we do not receive your identity, your payment details or the contents of your Amazon account. • Contact form emails: kept while they are useful for correspondence, then deleted. Ask and we will delete yours.
• Rate-limit records: one hour at most, in server memory only.
• Analytics data: retained per Google Analytics' own retention settings for the property.
• Server logs: per our hosting provider's standard retention.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to object to its processing. Since the only personal data we hold directly is what you sent us through the contact form, that request is usually straightforward to action.

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal data through the contact form, tell us and we will delete it.

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. There is no notification mechanism because there is no mailing list.
